Leave a message where it matters.

Slip a sealed message to a real place. It stays locked until someone you trust arrives there — a love note at your spot, a memory at the trailhead, a surprise at their door.

Free during the beta · iPhone, iOS 18 and up

Some things are meant to be read in a certain place. A message that waits, sealed, until the right person is standing exactly where you left it.

The place is the key.

No screenshots from the couch. No opening it early. Here's the whole journey.

1 · Pick the place & seal it

Drop a pin — the bench where you met, their front door, a summit. Write your note, add a photo or a voice memo, and seal it for someone in your Circle. Everything is encrypted on your device before it goes anywhere.

2 · It arrives sealed

They see a sealed Slip in their thread — a sense that something is waiting, without the words or the exact place being revealed yet. The app gently pulls them closer: distance, direction, a quiet nudge when they're near.

3 · The place unlocks it

When they arrive and stay a moment — enough to be genuinely there — the seal breaks and your message opens, exactly where you meant it to be read.

Built for real messages

Not a feed. A handful of ways to make a moment land where it should.

Quests

String places into a journey

Link several spots into a trail, opened one stop at a time — each unlock points the way to the next. A scavenger hunt across a city, an anniversary retrace, a tour of the places that made you.

Must arrive together

A note for the whole group

An optional message that stays sealed until everyone it was sent to has come to the place. The reveal is a moment you share, in person — held to it by the place itself.

Recurring places

A note that returns every year

Seal a message to a place and a date, and let it reopen each year on the day that matters. The bench, every anniversary. The doorstep, every birthday.

Photos · voice · files

Attach a memory, not just words

Add a photo from that day, a voice note in your own voice, or a file. Everything is sealed with the same end-to-end encryption as the message itself.

Private by design

Slip can't read your messages.

Your notes are end-to-end encrypted — the words, the photos, even the place you chose. There's no feed, no ads, and nothing sold. Only the people you send to can open what you wrote.

End-to-end encrypted

Sealed on your device before it leaves. We never hold the keys — not us, not the cloud it travels through.

No ads, no tracking

Location is matched only against the places you chose, never collected as a history, never sent to a server we run.

Your Circle only

Messages reach only people you've exchanged keys with — by username or in person. Strangers can't message you.

For the technically curious: standard, audited primitives via Apple's CryptoKit — AES-256-GCM content encryption, X25519 key exchange, Ed25519 signatures — independently reviewed by security professionals, including a protocol-level cryptographer review. The basics

What does it cost?

It's free during the TestFlight beta. We'll be clear and fair about pricing well before anything changes, and there are no ads.

What devices does it work on?

iPhone, on iOS 18 and later. The location and arrival features rely on iPhone hardware, so there's no web or Android version today.

Do I need an account?

Yes — the whole app is about messaging specific people you trust, so it's account-based. Sign in with Apple or Google; no password to manage, and Apple's "Hide My Email" is supported.

Sending & opening

Can the recipient read it early, from home?

No. That's the entire point. The message and even its exact place stay sealed until they're actually there. They'll see that something is waiting, but not what or precisely where, until they're close.

Why does it ask you to stay a moment before opening?

GPS is noisy. To make sure someone is really at the place — not just passing by — the app waits for a brief, honest dwell at the spot. The better the signal, the quicker it unlocks.

What does "must arrive together" mean?

It's an optional group message that stays sealed until everyone it was sent to has come to the place. Each person has to physically visit the spot before it opens — designed for an in-person, shared reveal.

Privacy & trust

Can Slip read my messages?

No. Your notes are end-to-end encrypted — sealed on your device before they leave it. We never hold the keys, so the content (and the place) is unreadable to us, to Apple's iCloud that carries the encrypted Slip, and to our relay. Only your recipient can open it.

Does the app track my location all the time?

No. Location is matched only against the specific places you or your Circle have chosen, to detect arrival — never to build a history of where you've been, and never sent to a server we run. The standard iOS location indicator shows while an arrival is being tracked, and you can turn access off anytime in Settings.

Who can send me a Slip?

Only people in your Circle — those you've added by exchanging keys, by @username or in person with a scan. Strangers can't message you. You can remove or block anyone, and their messages stop reaching you.

Troubleshooting & support

I'm at the place but it won't open.

Give it a moment — the app waits for a brief, stable dwell, which can take longer when GPS is weak (indoors, tall buildings). Stepping a few feet into the open, making sure Location is set to "Always" for Slip, and keeping the app open usually helps. If a date is attached, it also has to be on or after that date.

How do I report or block someone?

Every Slip and sender has a report and block option in the app. Blocking immediately stops their messages from reaching you. Reports help us act on abuse — see our Terms for what's not allowed.

How do I delete my account or my data?

You can delete your account from within the app, which removes the account-linked data we control and revokes your trusted connections. More in the privacy policy.
